First, what is sports nutrition and how is it different?

So, to start, all athletes step inside the Herbalife24 Performance Lab. That’s where we conduct tests to help us align their specific nutritional needs and goals. Testing includes body composition analysis, resting metabolic rate and VO2 max. Our sports dietitian uses data to determine energy and hydration needs and creates an individualized meal plan. Then our onsite chef in the Herbalife24 Fueling Station gets to work! Their collaboration ensures that each meal is handcrafted to deliver the right amount of nutrients to support the athlete’s personal needs, training plan and goals.

One question we always get asked is, “what do I really need nutritionally?” Well, it goes beyond the three big macro nutrients, which as you know are carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Sports nutrition has to provide the energy required for life as well as performing at a high level. Athletes require the right combination of those nutrients to fuel training and support muscle growth and repair. The exact amount really depends on their sport, personal goals and individual needs.
